Current Projects
Dummerston Street Light Initiative
The Dummerston Energy Committee is working with Efficiency Vermont
to improve the efficiency of outdoor municipal and public lighting.
This initiative has several components: Inventory what is currently
in place; evaluate need for lighting; eliminate any unnecessary
fixtures; consider municipal ownership of pole-mounted fixtures;
and develop
projects that would replace the old inefficient
fixtures with modern LED versions. More .

PACE (Property Assessed Clean Energy)
The Dummerston Energy Committee will likely recommend that
the Town look into the possibility of enrolling in a state-sponsored
program
that would enable residents to make energy-efficiency investments
in homes and businesses.
The program, Property Assessed Clean Energy, or PACE,
would enable owners of residential, commercial, and industrial
properties to
take out long-term loans for weatherization improvements and renewable-energy
technologies such as water heaters, lighting, furnaces, boilers,
heat recovery systems, programmable thermostats, energy management
systems, insulation, etc.

Covered Bridge Lighting
With the magnificent help of Stan Howe ("Smokey")
we have upgraded
the lights in the covered bridge. Stan and his crew replaced
the old and inefficient high-pressure sodium lighting with state-of-the-art
LED fixtures. Installation took place on Saturday, June 26th.
The fixtures are a donation from Philips
Lighting, so there is no cost to the town. The installation
was also donated.
A summary of the work performed can be read here.
Anti-Idling Signs
The Dummerston Energy Committee, through the efforts of Suzanne
Weinberg, submitted a proposal to the Ben and Jerry's Foundation
to pay for the costs of creating signage to promote the Town of
Dummerston's Anti-Idling
Resolution, passed recently by the Dummerston
Selectboard. Ben and Jerry's awarded $500 to DEC to cover signs
to be placed at various locations, including the
town offices, school, and others.
Power Meter Loan Program
The Energy Committee offers free loans of two kilowatt-hour meters
at the town office. Stop by the office and ask Pam or Laurie.
